VP Finish’s Decorative Chrome Plating provides a highly reflective, lustrous decorative chrome finish that is also corrosion resistant and wear-resistant due to its inherent lubricity. It is an electrolytic process that deposits a thin layer of trivalent chrome over a thicker base layer of nickel and copper on many metal substrates.

Types
The underlying base layer of Nickel is what provides this finish with its corrosion resistance.
Our standard Decorative Chrome Plating is deposited over an underlayment of our Bright Nickel & Copper Plating that couples trivalent chrome’s highly desired reflective properties with great corrosion resistance.
Pairing our Decorative Chrome Plating with an underlayment of one of our Electroless Nickel processes provides superior corrosion resistance and increased hardness while maintaining a highly attractive decorative finish. For certain applications, it is a suitable substitute for standard Hardchrome without the chemical toxicity of hexavalent chrome.
